"How You Think is What You Are."

That is a quote that I truly live by each day.

My journey in Real Estate has been fast and wild - rarely slowing down in the two short years that I have been licensed. Some might say that I got lucky or knew the right people, but I want you to know that luck had absolutely nothing to do with it. From the day I was able to legally work as an agent, I sprinted. I talked to everyone I knew, told my friends, family, neighbors, strangers at the grocery store - ANYONE who would listen, that I would love to help them sell their home or find a dream home for their family.

Getting the word out was absolutely the first place that I needed to start. In fact, that is always my advice to new agents. TELL EVERYONE. You don't know who needs your help or expertise until you ask. Don't be a secret agent! I think it's imperative to note that I never assumed that someone wouldn't want to work with me simply because I was a new agent. I presented myself as someone who was extremely knowledgeable and if I didn't know something, I found the answer quick. That mentality drew my first two luxury buyers to me and they had absolutely no idea that I was fresh out of the gate. When you believe that you are capable of anything, people will see that within you. They will trust you and feel your confidence.

Success Was and is My Only Option.

In the early stages of my career I was working with absolutely no money as I was coming into the industry as a fresh agent, newly divorced and no longer a Stay-at-Home mom like I had been for almost 10 years. The $300 I was able to allot to Zillow was a treasure and you better believe I never missed one call within the 5 minutes that a new lead would come in.

Something that I eventually saw a lot of return on was starting a monthly newsletter that I delivered myself to my neighborhood of over 1200 houses. I hosted community events that were free to all who attended. I sponsored anything that I could get my name on within my budget. Whatever I needed to do to farm my neighborhood, I did.

Getting divorced was a crushing blow to my life. I had never really worked outside of our home in a traditional sense, and now here I was, in charge of feeding three children who needed me to provide for them. When you are the sole provider of your household for three children under the age of 11, and you're backed into a corner, let me tell you that success really is your only direction. Your persistence in whatever you do is the only thing that will feed your family! I decided long ago that there was absolutely no room in my life for negative self-talk because failing my family simply was and is not an option.

I can attribute my success to several core principles and practices, but the thing that brought me the most success is The Miracle Morning. See my Miracle Morning Routine here.

Every single day I get up before my kids, workout, meditate, journal and am dressed and ready for the day as we walk out the door as a family. My goal for myself each morning is to arrive at my office by 8:30am and I work hyper-focused until 2:50pm when I pick my kids up from school 4 days per week. From the hours of 3:00pm - 7:00pm I simply do not answer my phone unless it is an emergency. I set the standard from the first meeting with my clients that I have a very dedicated and knowledgeable team that is available to help during those hours, but that I am not because that is my time with my kids.

Many people ask me if my clients get frustrated with that and honestly, the answer is that I don't care. Most every single client I have ever had has absolutely respected my time because they could see that I valued myself and had the confidence to set boundaries. In fact, I have never had a client who didn't understand. The type of clients you want to work for are those who respect the boundaries you create for yourself. Sometimes Realtors forget it's OK to say "no" to a deal. In order for you to be successful in this industry, you cannot allow yourself to become the doormat or punching bag for clients. You must take care of yourself and not burn yourself out with other people's needs and demands. Because I hold firm to this concept, I am able to offer the highest quality service to my clients.

Being physically present in my office and treating Real Estate as my full time job is the reason I have been able to go from 25 transactions total in 2015 to between 20 - 30 transactions every month of 2016 alone so far. If you don't treat this job as a career, you simply will not make career money. Get up, show up and be ready to work your butt off every day and you will see a return like you wouldn't believe.

If you're a single parent too you know that it won't always be smooth sailing. It's not easy doing this all by yourself. Sometimes my house is messy, sometimes I'm late, sometimes my kids complain that I'm distracted, sometimes I don't always get to take the trips I want with them, or make the crafts, clothes and projects I was able to do with them more as a SAHM, but what they get from my decision to go full speed ahead into this industry is so much more. They get security. They get a mom who is home more to snuggle with because of the incredible team I was able to create as my business grew. They get to see what hard work and dedication looks like. They get to be involved in my business and learn valuable skills for their futures. They get to see team work come to life and goals be met. THAT is what makes this worth it to me. Knowing my 'why' and working for it (them) every day.
